Darksoul by Eveline Hunt FREE on Amazon!

Hey peeps! I've kind of been away for a while, and I still haven't done the Cover Love for August. I'm really really really sorry about that. I'll try to do it some time soon.. :/

But that's not what today's post is about. I'm here because some days ago my favourite Wattpad story got published! Wattpad is a community for readers and writers alike, to share and read what they like to their heart's content, all for free. From there I found the paranormal/romance story KISS ME, KILL ME (the original version of DARKSOUL) when its chapters were still released regularly. I haven't read the published version yet, but from what I've heard it's quite different from KM, KM. Still, it seems it's going to be even better! Eveline Hunt is a talented writer who has created a strong young heroine who won't be afraid to speak her mind.

The ebook will be free until Friday, so
hurry up and get it NOW!

Genres: YA / Paranormal / Romance
Length: 370 pages
Description: Seventeen-year-old Hazel Lisle has a problem. Or two. Or three.

Problem number one: Asher Evans, her best friend and long-time crush. A lover of piercings with tan skin and a posh British accent, he’s spunky, fun, dirty-mouthed...and clearly more than what he seems.

Then there is Hunter Slade. Cold. Infuriating. Unreadable. He knows just how to work her last nerve. But under his calm, impassive mask, he’s hiding a terrible secret of his own.

Hunter and Ash are the least of Hazel’s worries. Someone is out to kill her, and she has no idea why. Monsters seem to come from left and right. Invisible wings follow her everywhere she goes. There’s a voice, soft and strangely familiar, inside her head. After a series of scary encounters, Hazel doesn't know who or what to believe. Only one thing is for sure: She will not go down without a fight.

**Due to strong language and crude sexual themes, this book is only recommended for readers ages 16 and up.**

#4 Cover Love - July 2014

Clearly I was late with this (past) month's post. Sorry about that. But, however corny it may sound, better late than never, huh? We had some pretty amazing covers this July, but the picky person I am, high resolution images revealed bits on some covers that made me change my mind more than once while I was on the lookout for the best. I like clear photos and well made manips. But sadly, many covers aren't the same up close as they are on small icons. (Am I being judgmental or what?)

July's winner was something I at first overlooked, but on closer inspection later on I just fell in love with. Without further ado, here's the golden beauty!

And the cover of the month is...

...Copper Magic by Julia Mary Gibson!

The black and gold combination on this cover is just breathtaking! The thin layer of water on a solid surface was a great idea. Its rippling leaves a beautiful natural texture, and the dark reflection of the trees adds a bit mysterious touch to everything, while this girl stands there alone. I don't know what's up with the handprint, but it looks cool and a little creepy, whether it was intended or not. I also like the font, with it's effects and placement. It fits perfectly with the rest of the cover, not to mention that 'copper' and 'magic' are exactly the words to describe this cover with! The whole thing looks very magical.

Some others that caught my eye:

It was hard to make up my mind, so this month I've again chosen more than three additional covers to feature in this Cover Love post. This happened mainly because I found three similar covers from this one series (that you probably recognize), but all different, and all published in July. It was simply impossible to pick out just one, so I'm going to feature these three separately from the rest.

Thanks again for reading! I continue to wait for your thought on my picks. Or if you have your own favourites from this past or current month, feel free to share them and I might use the latter in my next Cover Love post!

Have a nice day, everyone! (:

The Tesla Gate by John D. Mimms Book Blast & Giveaway

Tesla Gate
The Tesla Gate

When a cosmic storm enters Earth’s atmosphere, scientists are baffled by its composition and origins, but not nearly as much as they are by the storm’s side effect – anyone who has died and chosen not to cross over is suddenly stranded here, visible, and can interact with the living.

With the world thrown into chaos, Thomas Pendleton is eager to make up for many broken promises to his six-year-old son, Seth. Soon after the storm, they set out on a road trip to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC, completely unaware of the social and political maelstrom they’re heading into that will change their lives forever.

Amazon * Barnes & Noble * Goodreads

Excerpt (The prologue)

The day the storm hit, the world was changed forever.

Its severity would not be measured in property damage or loss of life, although the latter could be argued. This storm’s impact turned man’s beliefs completely upside down; the social upheaval would be worse than the aftermath of any storm in history.

Though this storm did not bring hurricane force winds, driving rain, cyclones or even floods, its effects would be far more subtle … but the impact every bit as palpable. This storm had unique origins and, unlike most weather events, it was not relegated to one geographic area. Indeed it covered the entire planet; no one was left unaffected.

Living or dead.

“Mike you and I both know that that isn’t going to happen so why don’t you just tell me what fur ball they’re going to saddle me with.” I said as I collected my stack of papers and organized them into a semi-neat pile.
Mike noisily cleared his voice, “Uh hey Ari…”
“God I hope that whoever it is that he isn’t a complete moron. If I’m going to be stuck with a pack partner, the least they can do is send me someone competent.” Mike noisily cleared his throat again.
“What?” I asked, looking up from my desk.
I was greeted by a tall man standing just inside the office, casually leaning against the doorframe. He had tousled brown hair and steely grey colored eyes. High cheekbones and a strong jaw formed his masculine face and a hint of stubble dusted his jaw line, not enough to appear unkempt but just enough to give a roguish impression. Dressed in black jeans, a black T, and a black leather jacket, he oozed tall, dark and handsome with deadly intent.
“That would be this fur ball right here.” He said, an arrogant grin lifting the corner of his mouth. I let my head fall to the surface of my desk, then for good measure I gently knocked my forehead on its smooth surface, one, two, three times. Dammit I couldn’t believe I had just called him a freaking fur ball! I could feel my cheeks warm in embarrassment and did my best to hide it.
“You all done with the show?” He asked as I lifted my head from the desk. I glared at him for good measure and then allowed my head to connect with the desk’s surface once more before sitting up. rubbing the slight sting away “Yea, I’m done.” I told him. Well, at least this wouldn’t be as bad as I had thought. James was the only shifter that I actually personally knew and was one of the few individuals I considered a friend. I met James about six months ago at a shifter bar downtown, though at the time I didn’t actually know that it was a shifter bar.
A group of coyotes had decided I was easy prey and were giving me a pretty hard time. James had intervened before things got out of hand which basically meant that he stopped me from wiping the floor with their coyote asses and burning the entire building to ash.  It was probably a good thing that he had stepped in but I remember being furious with him at the time, I had really wanted to give those bastards a piece of my mind and show them that I wasn’t just some naive little girl. That was back when I was still cocky over my abilities. Things had changed since then and the thought was sobering. Now being a pyrokinetic was something I had to hide and honestly, that just plain sucked.
“So, you’re my partner?”
James nodded, his face going serious, “Yea I’m you’re partner, ready to do something reckless?”
I smiled at that, James knew me all to well.
“Absolutely.”
Grabbing my messenger bag I followed James out of the office, aware of Mike’s unapproving gaze on my every step.

#3 Cover Love - June 2014

Our first month of summer is nearing its end (unless you're from Australia), which means it's about time for another Cover Love post. This time it was extremely difficult to pick out only the best. So many wonderful covers on wonderful books have been released to the world! Doesn't it just make you happy? It sure makes me happy. Now, if only I had a credit card, tons of money, and my own library...

Back to the pretties. I knew since the beginning of June what my favourite cover of the month would be, but as weeks went by, I realized I'll be having some trouble with the rest of my picks. Therefore, instead of picking THREE to stand below my very favourite, I'm picking FIVE. What a fabulous month in book covers it was, I just can't tell you guys enough! :D

And the cover of the month is...

...The Girl Who Never Was by Skylar Dorset!

I love a well-made photomanipulation. I can't detect any errors in the mixing of stock pieces. And I love the colors: the contrast in the dark alley above, the almost glowing light purple water and the blending of violets, the bright red flower and even the not-entirely-white of the text. Simple fonts are my favourites as well. The boy reaching out from this other dimension with a simple flower, a clear sign of love, is adorable.

As for the models - first you'd need to know that I've never been into fashion or modelling. I've seen models in magazines and TV and I've never once thought these people are extraordinary. Their weird poses make them, well, weird, and what seems to be their standard in facial expressions is most often simply awkward. Guess I just like naturality in people's appearances. But the point is, I usually don't like people on book covers. They often look like models in middle of photo shoots rather than real characters from the books. Then why do I like this cover? Firstly, their poses are quite natural. The expression on the girl's face is slightly fake, but it's a very tiny speck among the awesomeness. I will definitely get myself a copy of THE GIRL WHO NEVER WAS, for both the summary and the great cover!

Some others that caught my eye:

I'd gladly hear your opinions on the book covers of this month! What do you think of my picks? What has caught your eye? Do you have any of this June's pretty covers on your shelf and do they look even prettier in print? I want to hear all about it! (:

Blackwood Crossing by MK McClintock & Giveaway

Excerpt

“Rhona?”

She ignored the light rap on the door, not wishing for Wallace to see the results of her father’s anger.

“Would you like me to send him away, my lady?”

Rhona looked across the room at Emsley, her maid of three years. Her brother knocked again. “No, please let him in.”

“I’ll return later.”

“That won’t be necessary, Emsley. I prefer quiet tonight, but thank you.”

Emsley gathered up the dress Rhona had worn that day and answered the door. She glanced back at Rhona before stepping aside, allowing Wallace to enter. Rhona waited until the door closed behind the maid before speaking.

“I thought Father would have you occupied all evening.”

Wallace stepped toward the fire and lowered himself into the chair opposite Rhona. She kept her face turned. Though it didn’t appear it would bruise, her cheek still bore the redness from her father’s strong hand.

“He only just released me, but then I spoke with Graham.” Wallace leaned forward and using a gentle touch, turned her face. “You should have told me.”

“It would only have angered Father to have you caught in the middle.”

Wallace’s face tightened. “Has he ever done that before?”

“No, but it was bound to happen. Father and I have been at odds for years.”

“I know you stayed for me, Rhona.”

She smiled at her brother. Wallace had started at Eton when he was thirteen but returned home during all of his breaks. Rhona never wanted her brother to find himself alone for too long with Calum Davidson, but now that he was eighteen, Rhona knew she could no longer protect him.

“I’ve never regretted that decision.”

Wallace stared into the low-burning flames. “I want to go to university, but I can’t imagine returning here after. Alistair will inherit, and I have a chance to make a life for myself.”

“You’ve decided on a course?”

“I want to study the law.”

Rhona slowly shook her head. “If you told Father that, I can’t imagine he’s pleased.”

Wallace grinned. “Irate is what he is. He forbade it, of course, and promised to cut me off, but I don’t care.”

Rhona scooted forward in her chair. “You’ll make a fine solicitor one day. Don’t worry about Father. Mother’s money is not for me alone.”

“I cannot take anything from you.”

“You won’t. I’m giving it to you. Mother left you enough to pay for Oxford.”

Wallace sat forward. “You never said anything.”

“I couldn’t, not as long as you were beholden to Father. You can make your own decisions now, without interference.”

Wallace leaned back, his lips forming a wide grin. “Father won’t like this.”

Rhona laughed, then covered her mouth. “No, he won’t.”

Wallace sobered, his eyes studying her cheek. “Promise me you won’t stay here any longer.”

Her brother’s fierce words brought her reality to the surface. She would be gone, but she would not marry Crawford. The only way to ensure that her father could not force her was to act tonight. Her plan would require her brother’s cooperation.

“Wallace, listen to me. I need to ask something of you. It won’t be easy, and I can’t explain why.”

“You’re worrying me.”

Rhona reached out and covered his hands with her own. A few moments ago mirth had filled her mind, but now desperation clouded her heart. “Will you trust me?”

Brand new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle & Giveaway

COVER REVEAL!
Brand new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle!
~A paranormal romance series by Taylor Dean~

I love my OLD covers. (Pictured on the left.) I really do. They're different from the norm and that's why they captured my attention.
For Lancaster House, I liked the idea of a hand reaching out from the grave. It seemed appropriate to the story; Andre reaches out to Zoe from beyond the grave. It was Carrie-like and kind of creepy.

There's just one problem.

This is not a horror novel. Not at all. This is a paranormal romance. People who like horror are drawn to the cover and are sadly disappointed when they realize it's a romance.

People who love paranormal romance are turned off by the cover because it looks too creepy.

In other words, the cover just wasn't working.

I love The Middle Aisle cover because it matched Lancaster House so perfectly. And part of the story takes place in Monterey, California. Monterey is known for its Cypress trees. The tree on the cover of The Middle Aisle reminded me of a Cypress tree and seemed perfect.

But, if the right people aren't reading the first book, no one will ever read the second one no matter what the cover looks like!

Bam! Decision made!

It was time for new covers for Lancaster House and The Middle Aisle! I love the new covers because they speak so perfectly as to what's on the inside.

Without further ado, here they are, the new covers!

#2 Cover Love - May 2014

Hey guys! I'm back with some May new release covers. Unlike last month, I didn't have my favorites already picked out and had to do a great search from google to goodreads to blogs to find out what was released this month in the first place. There were some pretty or simply cool pieces out there, yes, but honestly I felt that this month's average was a lot duller (<-- weird word, or is it just me?) than the usual. I know this is only my second Cover Love post on this blog, but I've more or less kept my eyes open ever since I joined the Internet's book society.

But even so, I've found what I was looking for!

And the cover of the month is...

...Rebel by Amy Tintera!

Something simple this time. Maybe you can already tell that I like blue shades. But even if some other color was used, I don't think it would've stayed far behind. Although the cover looks simple enough, the designer has artistically used lines to make every item on it match. This font with those long letters just blends in. The glowing effect adds a nice touch. And black covers tend to be overall beautiful, in my eyes!

Some others that caught my eye:

Again, the picking of my favorite covers was not affected by my thoughts of the books' contents. I've never read anything from any of the four authors.

If you think there are some even more amazing May release covers out there that I didn't mention, post them in the comments! I'd love to see what you think and maybe you even get to change my mind! But for now, have a nice day, everyone!
